About the Curriculum

The curriculum aims to provide opportunities for all pupils to learn and to achieve.  It promotes pupils' spiritual, moral, social and cultural development, prepares all pupils for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of life.

The curriculum provides entitlement to the full range of subjects of the National Curriculum including Religious Education, Citizenship, Sex and Relationship Education, other aspects of Personal, Social and Health Education, Careers Education as well as preparing pupils for adult life, with access to suitably accredited courses as they grow older.

In addition, all pupils are provided with opportunities to acquire, develop, practise, apply and extend their skills in a range of learning contexts across the curriculum.  Such skills include the key skills of communication/literacy, application of number, information technology, working with others, improving own learning and performance and problem solving.

Time is also set aside for pupils' individual development which may require the support of speech and language therapy, physiotherapy, occupational therapy and/or music therapy.

Curriculum area leaders are responsible for the development and co-ordination of their subject across the school.  Monitoring is undertaken on a regular basis to ensure that pupils? learning is continuous and progressive.
