Critchill Learning Support Centre
Established in 1988 the Learning Support Centre has become integrated with the work of the school. The Learning Support Centre interacts with other schools, professional agencies, parents and the community. This aspect of our work has developed in partnership with parents, a range of professionals and the Local Educational Authority.
The Curriculum Resource Bank is extensively stocked with a range of educational books and equipment. It is used by ourselves, parents and professionals with an interest in the education of children with special educational needs.
We are experienced at developing relevant inclusive opportunities for our pupils, which includes a range of activities with other schools, and involving our pupils in the local community.
Training opportunities for teachers and learning support assistants working with pupils with a special educational need are arranged at the school. Occasionally training is made available for other professionals, workers and parents.
Our school, under the function of a Learning Support Centre, provides support groups for parents from both within and from outside of the school. Support groups usually meet during the evening and may invite a range of professionals to advise them.
We aim to provide a range of services to promote and support the effective inclusion of pupils with learning difficulties.
